SAPNE is an association of poets of South Asian origin residing in the New England area including persons having interest in South Asia. Membership is open to all poets and everyone is invited to the quarterly meetings. Poets from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal are currently represented. SAPNE tries to find the voice of South Asia in New England.
SOUTH ASIA AND NEW ENGLAND
South Asia over time has maintained a commercial and intellectual connection with the New England. The first immigrant from South Asia arrived in New England in 1789. More than two hundred thousand people from south Asian descent make New England their home participating as professionals in academy, industry and business.
